Weekend Arrests In Santa Clarita Remain Low

Over the weekend of Friday, March 26 to Sunday, March 28, Santa Clarita law enforcement made 16 total arrests, only increasing by one arrest compared to last weekend.

In a continual streak of surprisingly low weekend arrest numbers, 16 total arrests were made this weekend, dropping 38 percent since the first weekend of March. 42 arrests were made the weekend of March 7, and have since been rapidly dropping.

Six of the arrests made were of non-Santa Clarita residents, with one person traveling all the way from Fort Myers, Florida, making approximately 50 percent of the arrests people from outside Santa Clarita.

One of the arrests with no address in Santa Clarita Valley was that of a transient for theft of personal property.

Of the reported arrests made over the weekend, seven of them were drug or alcohol-related, two of them being driving under the influence (DUI) arrests, including the arrest from Florida. This counts for a total of approximately 50 percent of all weekend arrests.

The other 50 percent were made up of robbery, theft, and violence charges, making up the five felony-level arrests from over the weekend. There were two accounts of robbery, one theft, and two violence/abuse arrests, and one misdemeanor arrest for driving with a suspended/revoked license.

On the evening of Friday, March 26, three suspects were arrested for a reported robbery and assault that took place on March 10. At the time of the incident, two of the suspects were juveniles, one an adult. Since then, one has turned 18.

For the two adult suspects, bail has been set at $100,000 and their arrests have been categorized as felonies.

With a total of 5 felonies and 11 misdemeanors, Santa Clarita had another surprisingly low weekend arrest record for the third week in a row, closing out the last weekend of March with 16 total arrests.
