Woman Threatens First Responders During DUI Investigation

A Long Beach woman was arrested after she allegedly threatened first responders during a DUI investigation following a Stevenson Ranch crash Tuesday.

Around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a Stevenson Ranch crash on Pico Canyon Road near Marriot Way, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“(The suspect) collided with another vehicle. No injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the crash,” Greengard said.

When CHP officers arrived on scene, they arrested the female suspect on suspicion of DUI, according to Greengard.

“While on scene, (the suspect) threatened to harm the other individual involved in the crash, along with witnesses and emergency personnel,” Greengard said.

Julie Nelson, 53, from Long Beach was arrested for misdemeanor DUI and felony criminal threats, according to Greengard.

Nelson was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, according to officials.

  1. One year in the slammer for Julie seems about right. That ought to allow her sufficient time to sober up.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
