Unincorporated Los Angeles County Minimum Wage Increase Slated To Take Effect July 1

The minimum wage is scheduled to increase in Los Angeles County on July 1, impacting unincorporated areas of the Santa Clarita Valley, including Stevenson Ranch and Castaic.

While statewide increases have previously occurred on the first of the year, many local governments, including Los Angeles County, are scheduled to increase on July 1 per local ordinances.

Businesses with 25 or fewer employees are expected to see minimum wage increase to $14.25, while businesses employing more than 25 people are slated for an increase to $15.00.

On Jan. 1, statewide the minimum wage for small businesses reached $12.00 and for businesses with more than 25 employees, it reached $13.00.

The increases are slated to continue annually until the minimum wage reaches $15.00 for all employees on Jan. 1, 2023.

Some cities have chosen to delay their local minimum wage increases as a result of the potential impact on businesses already dealing with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, however,  the increase in Los Angeles County is still scheduled to take effect as of Tuesday.
