KHTS Endorses U.S. Congressman Mike Garcia And California Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares

The California primary is Tuesday. KHTS endorses the two local candidates who have the greatest impact on our quality of life in the Santa Clarita valley, Mike Garcia for U.S. Congress and Suzette Valladares for California State Assembly.

Congressman Mike Garcia

Our current Congressman, Garcia has been serving our district since he won a special election in May of 2020 when he replaced Katie Hill who resigned as Congresswoman six months earlier.

Garcia has served on several committees including Homeland Security, Science, Space & Technology and Transportation & Infrastructure.

He’s a former decorated navy pilot who graduated from Saugus High School.

Garcia has served our valley well, advocating for a strong national defense and cutting taxes. His efforts have checked the cartels by stopping a major marijuana grow industry that was threatening the Antelope Valley and could easily trickle down to Santa Clarita.

Garcia has strong support from local community leaders, ones who understand the critical issues impacting Santa Clarita and the need to have a strong advocate in Washington.

Suzette Valladares

Valladares is an educator elected to the California State Assembly in 2020. She serves as vice-chair of the Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism and Internet Media Committee. She also serves on the Assembly Committees on the Budget (Education, Finance, Public Safety Subcommittees), Communication and Conveyance, Rules and Higher Education.

Valladares was elected to the California State Assembly with 76 percent of the vote. She has earned the reputation of delivering results for Santa Clarita. We recently witnessed her in action on our recent KHTS Sacramento trip. Valladares is well respected by her peers, passionate about her Santa Clarita representation and is transparent about her concerns and beliefs, which align with the priorities of our valley.

We urge you to vote for Garcia and Valladares tomorrow.

  1. These are great endorsements but why wait until the eve of the election to make them known?

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
