College of the Canyons (COC) is scheduled to host “Fall Rush Week” next month to help with the registration process for new students.
Fall Rush Week is set to be held on COC’s Valencia campus in Canyons Hall from Monday, Aug. 2 through Friday, Aug. 6.
“Registering as a new college student can be a confusing experience, this event will give students a one-stop registration experience and the opportunity to have their questions answered in person by knowledgeable COC staff members,” said Jasmine Ruys, vice president of Student Services at the college.
Specific times and dates are as follows:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday — 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Tuesday — 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. T
- Friday — 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The five-day event aims to help students with registration for the Fall 2021 semester—which starts Monday, Aug. 23 — and is scheduled to include hundreds of in-person classes as well as online hybrid courses, officials said.
Students and community members can choose from nearly 2,000 sections in a wide range of academic subjects and career education disciplines, according to COC officials.
For students who are unable to attend the in-person event, Student Services staff are also set to be available through online Zoom calls. Free parking in all student lots is set to be available for the duration of the event.
In addition to student support, COC officials stated that the first 500 students (with the exception of Dual-enrollment students) who register at the event may receive a $50 bookstore gift card.
