Golden Oak Adult School held its third annual open house event in an effort to highlight the school’s programs for the community.
“It’s a hands-on way for people to see what we’re doing and also to support the school,” said Jodie Hoffman, the school’s principal.
The adult school currently offers several programs including: high school diploma and equivalency, citizenship preparation, and career technical education.
“We also have a new hospitality program that puts people to work with strong customer service training skills at no cost,” added Hoffman.
And while some programs are free, others such as the medical assisting, pharmacy technician, and phlebotomy programs are offered at low costs.
“We work in partnership with College of the Canyons to help bring young adults back to school who weren’t able to finish their education,” said Hoffman.
Golden Oak Adult School officials say they’re always working to meet the economic development for the diverse community.
“We know that research indicates that if parents have more education, kids will be more educated,” added Hoffman. “Our work here is impacting more generations.”
