Plum Canyon Elementary School in Saugus is closed Tuesday due to a water main break.
Around 8 p.m. Monday, a water main break was reported in the 28000 block of Santa Catarina Road in Saugus, said Esteban Benitez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“There was a water main break,” Benitez said.
As a result of the water main break, Plum Canyon Elementary School is closed Tuesday, said Colleen Hawkins, superintendent for the Saugus Union School District (SUSD).
“Following contacts with SCV Water late last night and early this morning we have decided to close school for the day,” Hawkins said. “SCV water has worked through the night, but they don’t anticipate the repair being completed before the start of the school day. The school currently has no water available for drinking, restrooms, etc.”
Parents with students at Plum Canyon Elementary are encouraged to check Parentsquare communications from the site for updates.
