Santa Clarita Schools Closed Friday Due To Saddleridge Fire

All schools in the Santa Clarita Valley have been closed Friday due to the Saddleridge Fire, with the exception of The Master’s University, officials said.

PreK-12

As of 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, all PreK-12 schools in the Santa Clarita Valley have announced that they would stay closed due to the Saddleridge Fire in the Newhall Pass.

All schools in the William S. Hart Union High School District, Newhall School District, Saugus Union School District, Castaic Union School District and Sulphur Springs School District have cancelled all classes and are closed due to current weather, fire and transportation issues. Visit the appropriate district websites for additional updates.

The Hart District has cancelled all Friday Junior Varsity football games, postponing until Saturday. Varsity games are still expected to be played as of 12:21 p.m. Friday, according to Dave Caldwell, spokesman for the Hart District.

Trinity Classical Academy has cancelled all Friday classes and sports events, according to school officials.

All locations of Primetime Preschool are closed Friday, according to the City of Santa Clarita.

SCVi and the associated preschool, Little iLEADers Early Childhood Learning Center, in Castaic are closed, according to school officials.

College

College of the Canyons and CalArts have cancelled all classes, although the CalArts campus remains open to Santa Clarita residents.

Additionally, all College of the Canyons athletic events scheduled for Friday, both home and away, have been cancelled.

All COC classes are set to resume their normal time frames on Saturday.

The Master’s University is still holding classes and chapel is unhindered; however students unable to attend due to access reasons would have their absences excused, according to The Master’s University officials.

In addition to Santa Clarita schools, California State University, Northridge has announced that all classes are cancelled and the campus is closed Friday.
