iLEAD Online Offers An Alternative Option For Santa Clarita Students

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Santa Clarita is facing many new realities and unexpected outcomes we had not foreseen. One of these outcomes was the night and day change in education, even here in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Many local schools over the past year have made sacrifices, compromises, and surprising changes, causing parents and students to search for a different option.

Local charter school organization iLEAD is one of the different options. A tuition-free, fully accredited charter school educating grades kindergarten-12th, offers an alternative and more customizable education for your learner.

iLEAD spearheads many programs, an in-classroom school (SCVi), home study (SCVi Exploration), independent study (iLEAD Online), preschool, and after-school care, plenty of options for all of your family’s educational needs.

On June 4, Matt Watson, host of KHTS’s ‘Eye On The Valley’ radio show, spoke with iLEAD’s Online program coordinator Kate Wolf.

Wolf and Watson discussed the benefits and unique opportunities that can be found in iLEAD’s Online program as opposed to the other options presented to students in the coming year.

The iLEAD Online program offers a fully customizable education experience for your learner ages Kindergarten through 12th grade. Whether you want to choose the pre-set fully accredited curriculum, bring in your own, or find a mix of the two, iLEAD is willing to create an education tailored to your student that will promote learning and passion for new things.

Examples of the unique opportunities found with iLEAD are as numerous as your imagination can conceive. Is your family traveling to Europe for a few weeks and want to keep up with your child’s education? iLEAD can create a special project that encourages your child to keep learning, and keeps them on track for the year.

One student of iLEAD Online had a passion for horses, so her and her facilitator and counselor created a special project testing pH levels and how that affected the horses performances to satisfy the student’s chemistry requirements.

“We may be online but we encourage kids to move away from the screen and learn in their lives, in their spaces, and share with us how their spaces are connected to their learning,” said Kate Wolf, online program coordinator.

iLEAD also offers unique and more extensive courses than traditional schooling. Does your student love language and want to study a language other than French or Spanish? iLEAD Online offers Japanese, Mandarin, and more.

“That model automatically invites kids to engage and ask questions and get passionate about what they’re doing,” said Wolf in discussion with Watson.

Hands-on personalized learning focused on furthering your student’s passion for learning while not restricting them to multiple-choice tests and an inflexible schedule, an online school that connects your student with their teachers and gives them the chance to learn freely and creatively while still completing education that will carry them through college and life.

SCVi/iLEAD is a tuition free charter school in Santa Clarita that uses project-based and social-emotional learning concepts to inspire and motivate lifelong learners with the skills they need to lead in the 21st century. Technology is incorporated into all components of the curriculum, and learners are given a firm grounding in the arts, humanities and sciences. School officials value and encourage development of leadership skills by inspiring character and confidence in learners. SCVi/iLEAD offers transitional kindergarten (TK) through 12th grade, providing a unique learning opportunity for those in need of a kindergarten in Santa Clarita, elementary school in Santa Clarita, jr high in Santa Clarita, middle school in Santa Clarita or high school in Santa Clarita.
