SCVi & iLEAD Schools Prepare Your Student For College

Above and beyond education and unique learning opportunities, SCVi charter schools provide long-term assistance and advice that can guide your student into the future.

SCVi is a public charter school, meaning it charges no tuition for their students. SCVi and other iLEAD schools have classroom-based, online, and at-home programs available as an alternative public school for local LA County students and beyond.

In a recent episode of Eye On the Valley on KHTS, host Matt Watson discussed college preparedness and the unique approach at SCVi with their college and career counselor, Chris Nelson.

Chris got her Master’s Degree in Education and Social Work and has now been the college and career counselor at SCVi for six years. Her passion for helping students is evident, and her work within the SCVi system has been impactful.

Nelson’s job is to help guide students towards their futures beyond high school. As the college and career counselor, Nelson helps students prepare for college applications, picking the right school for them, and if your student is planning on a technical career, she also helps those students pick the right classes for a personalized pathway through high school to fit their own goals.

Nelson believes her job is all about helping students develop options for after they graduate. Whether they plan on attending a technical school, a 2-year institution, a 4-year school, study abroad, or take a gap year, Nelson helps direct kids to achieve their own goals to success. Cultivating options and brainstorming plans all the way beginning in the 9th grade is part of SCVi’s organized life-after-SCVi plan.

iLEAD spearheads many programs, an in-classroom school (SCVi), home study (SCVi Exploration), independent study (iLEAD Online), preschool, and after-school care, plenty of options for all of your family’s educational needs.

  1. Where did you go to school? Did you further your education after high school, or did you go to a vocational school?
Just wondering what personal experience has led you to feel this way.

  2. I was asking about your own experience. I don’t besmirch vocational schools and didn’t say or imply that I did. I wanted to know what led you to your opinion, but you ended up saying a bunch of other things. Never mind.

  3. I think it’s uncalled for, to call someone a pervert because they asked a question.
