Officials from The Master’s University announced Friday that their Board of Directors had unanimously appointed Dr. Sam Horn as their new president.
On Friday, university officials announced on their website that The Master’s University and Seminary Board of Directors had unanimously elected Dr. Sam Horn as the school’s next president.
“The Board of Directors is looking forward to working with Dr. Horn in his role as President, and is grateful that Dr. MacArthur will remain Chancellor Emeritus, providing the extraordinary spiritual wisdom that has served us so well for nearly four decades” said Jonathan Rourke, Chairman of the TMUS Board of Directors, in Friday’s announcement.
Horn has “extensive experience” in academic administration, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Bible in 1986, a Master’s Degree in Bible in 1988, and a PhD in New Testament interpretation in 1995 from Bob Jones University.
Additionally, Horn completed his Doctor of Ministry degree at The Master’s Seminary in 2007.
“He is a Master’s man,” Friday’s announcement reads.
Horn served in several executive academic positions as Northland International University from 1996 to 2011. He then accepted the role as president at Central Baptist Theological Seminary.
“Along the way, Dr. Horn also served on pastoral staff at churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota,” Friday’s announcement reads. “Those who know him best talk often of his pastor’s heart. He loves the local church and is especially passionate about connecting Christian students with local churches.”
In 2015, Horn went on to become the Executive Vice President for Enrollment and Ministerial Advancement at Bob Jones University, where he helped the both administrative and academic teams through the school’s “successful procurement of regional accreditation.”
“He helped revamp and strengthen the biblical counseling programs at the graduate and undergraduate level,” the announcement reads. “Under his leadership, enrollment thrived in both the undergraduate level and at the seminary. The university reestablished relationships with alumni, donors, and churches around the country. And, most importantly to Dr. Horn, he sought to bring a culture of discipleship and a love for the local church to the campus.”
Horn is set to succeed Dr. John Stead, who has served as the interim president since 2019, in June of 2020.
“We are convinced that God has brought us the right leader to guide these schools into the future. Dr. Horn is truly an example of God’s ongoing kindness. We prayed for the right person, and the Lord provided,” Rourke said in the announcement.
