Seven high schools within the William S. Hart Union High School District were recently ranked among the top 12 percent of public high schools in the United States, officials announced Tuesday.
A recent ranking published by “U.S. News & World Report” placed seven Hart District high schools in the top 12 percent of over 24,000 public high schools across the country.
“I commend all of our school sites for their outstanding work to provide exceptional opportunities for the students of the Hart District,” said Mike Kuhlman, superintendent of the Hart School District, in a statement Tuesday.
The seven high schools ranked in the top 12 percent include:
- West Ranch High School, ranked 118th in California and 835th nationally
- Saugus High School, ranked 231st in California and 1,651st nationally
- Canyon High School, ranked 241st in California and 1,729th nationally
- Valencia High School, ranked 260th in California and 1,870th nationally
- Hart High School, ranked 262nd in California and 1,884th nationally
- Academy of the Canyons, ranked 263rd in California and 1,885th nationally
- Golden Valley High School, ranked 396th in California and 2,670th nationally

“It’s an honor to have so many recognized in U.S. News and World Report for their commendable reputation across our state and our nation,” Kuhlman said in Tuesday’s statement.
Officials say that rankings were determined using six factors: college readiness; math and reading proficiency; math and reading performance; underserved student performance; college curriculum breadth; and graduation rate.
Hart District schools were specifically noted for their AP class participation rate, graduation rate, and college readiness, according to officials.

This is good to see and I know in this city, they have not fully embraced the progressive agenda being aggressively pushed down to every CA district. This is why achievement is still high. This is why many people moved here from the SFV to escape LAUSD re-education camps. This choice is being limited in the coming years and the full progressive education will be mandated forcing people to seek private schools for fact-based education in useful STEM skillsets. I hope the next generation of parents continues to monitor and push back on the progressive education agenda as much as possible to continue allowing SCV schools to produce productive members of society instead of liberal arts social justice warriors.
LAUSD has several high schools ranked higher than SCV.
