William S. Hart High School District officials and law enforcement are working to assess a “potential specific threat” aimed at Arroyo Seco Junior High School.
In an email to parents Friday, Arroyo Seco Principal Dr. Andy Keyne, informed families of the potential threat circulating via social media, ostensibly to occur next Tuesday.
“The threat specified Tuesday and it is unclear at this time if it is directly Seco related,” Keyne said. “Arroyo Junior High School is open today. We have asked for additional law enforcement patrols around campus and in our community. We will send out updated information when it is available.”

The email noted that school and district officials were aware of the issue and were working alongside law enforcement to ensure the school is safe and to identify those responsible
“We take all threats very seriously and report them immediately to law enforcement. We are grateful that students, staff, parents and community members feel comfortable coming forward to report suspicious activity,” Keyne said. “Research demonstrates that one of the best things a school community can do to support a safe school environment is to develop a culture in which people report suspicious information to a responsible adult.”
Law enforcement officials across the nation have acknowledged that school threats often increase in the days following a school shooting, such as the one that occurred at Oxford High School in Michigan on Tuesday which killed four students and injured several others.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to speak with their students about the seriousness of making any kind of comment that could cause concern for the safety of others.
“This includes joking about these topics and/or posting inappropriate content on social or instructional media platforms,” Keyne noted.
