Sequoia High School held a drive-thru ceremony for the school’s largest graduating class.
William S. Hart Union School District’s Sequoia High School celebrated its largest graduating class in the school’s history on Monday.
“It’s amazing, they’ve overcome a lot of obstacles,” said Dr. Catherine Nicholas, Sequoia High School principal. “They are amazing young students. They have lots of future aspirations, they worked really hard, they persevered- especially with the distanced learning.”
Over a dozen students were driven in a parade-like fashion through Central Park, exited their vehicles and were given their diplomas.
16 students may not seem like a large graduating class, however, it is the largest graduating class in its 14-year history, according to school officials
Dr. Nicholas has been the principal for Sequoia for two years, and says it’s an honor to see the 2020 graduates achieve their goals.
“I’ve been here two years and each one of them has grown and matured and reached the many goals they have set for themselves, both academically and socio-emotionally,” Dr. Nicholas added. “They are good people going to make differences in the world.”
