Valencia High Announces Final Concert With Band Director

Valencia High School officials have announced that their upcoming Spring Concert would be the final concert for current band director Mark Judd.

Ed. Note: The following is a press release provided to KHTS by Valencia High School.

The Valencia High School Music Department invites audiences to experience the many exhilarating performances at the Annual Spring Concert on Wednesday, May 22 at the VHS theater at 7 p.m.

The concert will feature vibrant performances from the wind ensemble and symphonic band performing music from cinematic scores such as: Danny Elfman’s Batman; Harry Potter; How to Train Your Dragon; and more. Director of Bands, Mark Judd, will lead the concert bands through a night of exciting music.

Valencia High Concert Jazz Band, led by Jazz Director Emilio Terranova, will be performing pieces from their award winning festival set including contemporary favorites, old standards, and the theme from the 1959 Academy Award winning Marcel Camus film “Black Orpheus.” They will be joined by the award winning Valencia High Jazz Combo.

This concert will also be an incredibly special event as this will be Mark Judd’s final concert as Valencia High School’s band director. With ten years of an amazing ride at Valencia, Mark Judd will be transitioning to a brand new role as the Band and Choir Director at the new Castaic High School.

“My experiences with the VHS music program will be cherished for a lifetime,” Judd said. “From Las Vegas to Disney World, from the Ala Moana Center (Hawaii) all the way to the Saint Patrick’s Parade and Carnegie Hall in New York, I cannot thank the students and families enough for all of their trust, passion and love. Many of the closest people I have in my life have either been students, parents, staff, or faculty at Valencia High School.”

We hope you will join us for an electrifying musical experience provided by an amazingly talented group of student musicians. The performance will be located at Valencia High School Theater 27801 Dickason Dr, Valencia, CA beginning at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10. Free parking.
