Dozens of Santa Clarita residents joined the Global Climate Strike on Friday to rally against climate change.
On the bustling intersection of Valencia Boulevard and McBean Parkway, local activists banded with a global movement to “save the planet,” according to event organizers.
“September’s climate strikes will kickstart a huge wave of action and renewed ambition all over the world,” global organizers said.
The Santa Clarita event is one of an estimated 4,638 events slated to take place in 139 countries, according to one of the organizers, 16-year-old Greta Thunberg, who testified to Congress about climate change this week.

“Millions of us will walk out from home, work, school or university to declare a climate emergency and show our politicians what action in line with climate science and justice means,” organizers said. “The climate crisis won’t wait, so neither will we.”
Among the Santa Clarita demonstration attendees was Kipp Mueller, a candidate for the State Senate seat in District 21.
“Current policies in place, both at the state and federal level, are insufficient and are not keeping up with the science,” Mueller said.
The candidate and activist’s main concerns were ensuring that plastic is properly recycled and power providers make a “smooth, but efficient transition” to clean energy.
“Fundamentally, it is all clean air and clean water, which is something we can all agree with,” Mueller said.
The climate rally comes at the heels of President Donald Trump’s visit to California and the announcement of the federal government revoking the state’s emission guidelines.
“The Trump Administration is revoking California’s Federal Waiver on emissions in order to produce far less expensive cars for the consumer, while at the same time making the cars substantially SAFER,” Trump tweeted Wednesday while in Los Angeles for a fundraiser. “This will lead to more production because of this pricing and safety.”
Some of the demonstrators seemed optimistic about the future, chanting, “Save the planet for our children.”
“We need to act right now to stop burning fossil fuels and ensure a rapid energy revolution with equity, reparations and climate justice at its heart,” organizers said.

How did they all get rally ? Did they walk or were they on horseback? Just a fun fact but their signs, markers and glitter where probably imported from China by pollutant ships or planes . Just sayin ……….
Just saying what?
When did the Climate not change?
When did the climate not change?
Climate, in simple terms, is the average condition for about a thirty year span.
Weather refers to the daily state of the atmosphere at a specific time and location.
Knowing the difference in those terms is vital to understanding the man-caused extinction event that is looming so we , if we care enough, may save ourselves.
Guarantee you none of those kids wanted to be out there. Then everyone destroyed the grass by standing on it so long. Will have to use precious water to bring it back. And then the gas mowers to cut it with the gas blowers to blow away the excess.
Wow, there are tens of people there!
