Project Books is a local non-profit organization based in the Santa Clarita Valley that strives to save books from reaching the landfill and giving books back to the community to benefit from.
Project Books, Inc. is an association that gives free books to individuals that require them. ProjectBooks, Inc. was established in 201o by Marcia Decker. On her way home one day she saw a dumpster loaded with books that could have been sold or re-homed which inspired her to make a difference.
In 2011 Marcia Decker, with help from the legal clinic at USC, Project: Books received it’s tax-exempt status. The organization provides books to locations such as the Newhall Community Center, homeless shelters, Veterans Association hospitals, senior centers and more.
Project Books has worked with different organizations and events, for example, KHTS Hometown Station, The Home and Garden Show at The Hyatt, SCV Education Foundation, The Literacy and Arts Festival, Great American Deals, The Santa Clarita Kids Expo, Golden Valley High School, College of the Canyons and The Family Fall Festival.
Project Books mission in life is devoted to the free distribution of books in Los Angeles County and beyond. With an uncountable number of books being thrown away, their organization hopes to reverse this trend.
They work diligently to put used reading materials back in the hands of people who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford them. They believe the joys of reading should be shared, and not ended by a landfill.

If you have books you don’t want or don’t read anymore and want to get rid of them, then donate your books to Project Books. Project Books will make sure that they are handed down to those who love to read, but don’t have books to read.
