This month’s offerings include “Top 30 Plants for the SCV” planned for Thursday, March 19 at 6:30 p.m. and “Planning Your Landscape Project: Design to Construction” set for Saturday, March 21 at 9 a.m.

“March is all about spring,” SCV Water officials said. “We ‘spring’ forward with daylight savings time March 8, and the first day of spring is March 19. March is also a great month to start thinking about preparing your landscape so it will blossom.”

Residents who may not be sure what plants to select for their landscape can learn about the 30 best plants that look beautiful and grow well in the Santa Clarita Valley at the first class offering on March 19.

Taught by Certified Arborist and California Certified Nurseryman John Windsor, a horticultural advisor with more than two decades of experience, attendees can expect to leave with a full-color plant guide.

Then on March 21, residents are invited to learn how to make a plan for their reimagined landscape, with the class covering the various components needed to develop a project scope and create a landscape design and budget.

Tim Wheeler is expected to teach the class, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the green industry with an emphasis on landscape management and education, as well as water conservation. A few certifications and licenses Wheeler has held include certified arborist, water use efficiency practitioner and certified landscape water auditor.

“Top 30 Plants for the SCV” and “Planning Your Landscape Project: Design to Construction” are both set to be held at SCV Water, located at 27234 Bouquet Canyon Road in Santa Clarita.
