WiSH Foundation Starry, Starry NightWiSH Foundation “Starry, Starry Night”

Details:  The WiSH Foundation is holding their Second Annual “Starry, Starry Night” fundraiser.  Read more in a KHTS story: WiSH Foundation “Starry, Starry Night” Celebrity Lineup Announced, (link above). The night features stars form “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” plus a performance by one of the Hart District dance teams. 

WiSH is the official private-fundraising organization for the support of the William S. Hart Union High School District’s educational programs.  Adult tickets are $40, students, seniors and active military tickets are $25. Canyon Theatre Guild “The Dixie Swim Club”

When:  Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm on: January 31, February 1, 7, 14, 15, 21, 22, and March 1; Sundays at 2pm on: February 9 and 23; Sundays at 6pm on February 16

Where:  Canyon Theatre Guild, 24342 Main Street in Old Town Newhall

Details:  Canyon Theatre Guild has the new comedy “The Dixie Swim Club.”  The story is about five Southern women that met on their college swim team.  They meet for one weekend every August to catch up on each other’s lives.  “As their lives unfold and the years pass, these women increasingly rely on one another through advice and raucous repartee, to get through the challenges that life flings at them.”  “The Dixie Swim Club is the story of these unforgettable women-a hilarious and touching comedy about friendships that last forever.”  Hear a KHTS Friday Matinee podcast interview with some of the stars of “The Dixie Swim Club” during an appearance on January 17.   Tickets are $12 to $15 for juniors/seniors and $15 to $17 for adults.  Tickets are available by calling 661-799-2702.  More information is available online.

Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center “Peking Acrobats” 

When:  Saturday, February 1 at 8pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the COC Valencia campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon, Valencia

Details:  The Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center has the show “Peking Acrobats.”  “Tumblers, jugglers, cyclists and gymnasts erupt on the stage in a pageantry of sound and sights amazing to behold!”  Tickets are $45/$40/$35.  More information is available by calling 661-362-5304 or online.

The Sanctuary Church “Emergency Preparedness For Seniors” – 

When:  Saturday, February 1 from 11:30am-3:00pm

Where:  The Sanctuary Church, 26444 Friendly Valley Parkway – at Sierra Highway

Details:  This event is now closed to RSVPs, seating is maxed out.  The Sanctuary Church is holding an Emergency Preparedness For Seniors event.  This event is for seniors who are 60 years and older.  Admission is free.  There will be an Italian lunch with live entertainment and an emergency education seminar.  Participants will receive an emergency preparedness kit.  For added fun, there will be raffles and give-aways.  RSVP: info@theSanctuarychurch.com or by calling 661-252-7255 extension 411.  THIS EVENT IS NO LONGER TAKING RSVPs – IT IS MAXED OUT.

Child & Family Center “Winter Blizzard Bunco Bash” 

When:  Thursday, January 30 from 6-10pm
Where:  Child & Family Center, 21545 Centre Point Parkway

Southern California Pet Expo 2014

Details: The Southern California Pet Expo is a woofing, chirping, and meowing good time for the whole family! Four-legged friends can receive “spa treatments” from local groomers, sample delicious treats, and try on the latest in furry fashions; their humans will enjoy interacting with top trainers and learning pet-care tips from animal welfare organizations. Benefit Concert For SCV Food Pantry

When:  Saturday, February 8 at 6:30pm
Where:  Keyboard Galleria Music Center, 21515 Soledad Canyon Road – next to Santa Clarita Lanes
Details:  This benefit concert for SCV Food Pantry features “KIKstart,” an all-local, all-girl  band known for their fundraising benefit concerts.  The band plays cover songs by R5, Hanson, OneRepublic, Maroon 5, and more.  Tickets are $10 per person or $8 when you bring in three canned food items.  Tickets include admission, pizza and drinks.  Pre-purchase tickets at Keyboard Galleria or online. 

ESCAPE Children’s Theatre “Oliver!”

When:  Friday, February 7 at 7pm; Saturday, February 8 at 2pm and 7pm; Sunday, February 9 at 2pm and 7pm
Where:  Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center on the COC Valencia campus, 26455 Rockwell Canyon, Valencia
Details:  ESCAPE Children’s Theatre has the musical “Oliver!” based on the Charles Dickens novel.  Over 250 talented youth and teens will be performing.  You will hear all the familiar songs: Yourself, Where Is Love, and Oom Pah Pah.  The shows are approximately 2-1/2 hours.  Tickets are $22 for adults and $18 for students, children and seniors.  More information and tickets are available by calling 661-299-5264 or online.
