What: The Santa Clarita History Bear was commissioned by the Canyon Theatre Guild and was painted by artist Frank Rock. The public art piece is part of the California Bear Project, a project developed in August 2004 by the City of Santa Clarita to install life size grizzly bear sculptures throughout the community. The Santa Clarita History Bear depicts scenes from Santa Clarita Valley’s history and is the fifth bear sculpture to be displayed in the community.

The walk passes through Six Flags Magic Mountain and Hurricane Harbor prior to the theme parks’ gates opening, and a rare opportunity to walk with your leashed, canine friends. Health and Fitness Expo

What: To kick off the Santa Clarita Marathon and get in the racing spirit, the City will host a pre-race Health and Fitness Expo for everyone to enjoy. The expo will feature dozens of health-related vendors and information booths.

10th Annual Sunset in the Vineyard

When: Sunday, November 5 at 1 p.m.
Where: Compa Vineyard in Newhall

What: Celebrate the fall season sampling locally-crafted wine and beer with friends, while savoring culinary delights and listening to live music in the SDV’s private Compa Vineyard. Proceeds benefit Assistance League programs in Santa Clarita, such as Operation School Bell, which clothed over 2,500 students this year.

Santa Clarita Marathon

When: Sunday, November 5 at 7 a.m.
Where: Between the Hyatt Valencia and Westfield Valencia Town Center

What: The Santa Clarita Marathon, which is an official qualifying race for the Boston Marathon, will test the physical boundaries of the human body. The day will include a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5K run, Mayor’s Walk and a Kid K run.
