What: Enjoy beer-battered cod served with coleslaw and a choice of French fries, rice pilaf or beans. Fish tacos are also available and served with rice and beans. Dine in or take out (or enjoy outdoor patio seating). The price is $11 for a two-piece dinner or the two-fish taco plate, or $12 for a three-piece dinner. Cash and credit cards are accepted. All proceeds benefit local charities and families in need.

What: Join the nonprofit The Sparkle of Tinnley Organization for their first fundraiser so they can “spread the sparkle” to as many kids and their families impacted by childhood cancer, as well as other life-threatening illnesses, as possible. The event is set to feature a cornhole tournament, arts and crafts drive, costume accessory drive, donation-based photo booth, raffle items, Be the Match bone marrow registration, Sparkle merchandise, food trucks, beer, baked goods, a family zone and more.

What: Enjoy a fun Leap Day celebration while raising money for Peyton’s Project and increasing awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Peyton is a local teenager diagnosed with DMD. He will be there, along with a DJ and music for entertainment. Attendees can run all 29 laps for a serious workout or walk, skip, dance, roll and take your time to complete as many laps as you can.

SCV Tigers Football Game

What: Get ready for the ambush! Santa Clarita Valley Tigers’ first home game is at Valencia High School against the So Cal Apaches.  Proceeds of the game will be donated to the LOV Movement, which helps provide food and shelter for the homeless across LA County. Tickets are $5 or a donation of clothing or canned food.

R.K. Downs/Dirk Fischer Jazz Festival at Golden Valley High School featuring the GO Jazz Big Band

When: Friday, March 13 starting at 5:30 p.m.

What: This long-running jazz festival features all of the jr. high and high school jazz ensembles in the Santa Clarita Valley performing 15-minute sets starting at 5:30 p.m.  GO Jazz Big Band will close out the festival with a performance at 8:30 p.m. $5 Admission includes dinner, and proceeds benefit the Hart District Jazz “All-Stars.”

Knights of Columbus St. Patrick’s Day 5K

When: Saturday, March 14 at 8 a.m.

What: The race is an “out and back” course that begins at Mentryville Park and takes you in front of Charles Mentry’s grand 13-room mansion, a one-room schoolhouse and a period barn. The course is mostly on newly paved asphalt and the elevation climb is about 330 feet. Due to this elevation gain, the course is considered moderate to difficult. Awards and raffle prizes will follow shortly after the race.

Annual St. Francis Dam Disaster Lecture and Bus Tour presented by the SCV Historical Society

What: The Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society will commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the second-worst disaster in California history with its annual St. Francis Dam Disaster Lecture and Bus Tour to the dam site in San Francisquito Canyon. Participants will have the opportunity to be among the first to visit the newly designated St. Francis Dam Disaster National Memorial and National Monument.
