What: KHTS is putting together a list of the 2024 Santa Clarita’s Halloween events to attend such as Damian’s ‘Not-So-Haunted House’ and the Haunted Hike at Castaic Lake.

Halloween Fiesta Volunteer Opportunities

What: Fun, energetic, respectful, and dependable volunteers with a positive attitude are needed for this fun Halloween event. various positions and shifts available. Volunteers interested in volunteering for multiple positions must register for each one, provided they are not conflicting shifts.

“PINKALICIOUS” the Musical

When: October 19th – 20th, & 26th

What: Based on the popular children’s book “Pinkalicious” by Victoria Kann and Elizabeth Kann, this show brings the popular character on stage. Young audiences are sure to be thrilled to see all the antics of Pink, her brother, dancing cupcakes, and even a dancing bee come to life. Performance dates are weekends throughout October from the 13th – 26th with tickets ranging from $15 – $22 at The Olive Branch, a pop-up performance space located on the 2nd floor inside the Valencia Town Center adjacent to Kawaii Claws. Show times are 11am and 2pm. Audience members wearing the color pink get a special treat! 

William S. Hart Regiment Rampage Marching Band Competition

What: The William S. Hart Regiment is thrilled to host one of the largest marching band competitions in Southern California. The 40th anniversary event of the famous Hart Rampage will be happening at College of the Canyons Cougar Stadium on Saturday, October 26, 2024. This year we are expecting over thirty (30) bands from Southern California and surrounding areas. It’s an opportunity to see many talented musicians and dancers including those from all our local SCV high schools perform at a single venue. The day-long competition ends with a legendary mass drumline and awards ceremony. Bring your family and friends for this day of great entertainment, food and fun. In addition to the field show performances, there will be food vendors, merchandise booths and many prizes to be raffled.

Day of the Dead Celebration

“Cold Sassy Tree” by Mission Opera

What: Santa Clarita’s opera company, Mission Opera opens its 7th Season with ‘Cold Sassy Tree’ by Carlisle Floyd, an American opera in English. Based on the 1989 historical American novel by Olive Ann Burns, ‘Cold Sassy Tree’ portrays life in the rural south in the fictional town of Cold Sassy in 1906. Only two performances are scheduled for October 26 and 27 at 2:00 pm at Canyon High School Performing Arts Center in Santa Clarita. 

Halloween Community Hike

Placerita Canyon Nature Center Newhall

Family Nature Walk, Blooms Of The Season, & Monthly Bird Walk At Placerita Canyon

What: Monthly Bird Walk is offered on the first and second Saturdays of each month (weather permitting) from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. This program is designed for all levels of “birders”. Bring your binoculars (or borrow ours), water, comfortable shoes and a field guide if available.

Animal Show is held on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Meet the Animal Ambassadors who live in the canyon. Learn what the animals eat, where they live, their physical attributes and much more! Placerita Canyon Nature Docents/ Naturalists and staff will lead the discussion and answer all of your questions.

Blooms Of The Season is held on the fourth Saturday of every month and begins at 9:30 am at the front steps to the Nature Center. Learn about native plants and what’s blooming year-round along our trails.

Family Nature Walk is every Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. An easy one hour walk for the entire family exploring our Natural Area’s animals, plants and cultural history. These hikes are led by Placerita Docents, are free and begin at the front steps to our Nature Center. Pre-registration is not required but hikes will be limited to 15 individuals and all must follow current COVID Restrictions and Guidelines.

Saturday Morning Nature Center Discovery is Every Saturday at 10 am and Noon. A fun meet and greet with the Natural Areas Superintendents! Learn more about your park, ask us questions, and find out fun ways to make the most of your visit!

 

Gilchrist Farm Visits

Farm Visits At Gilchrist Farm (Every Sat & Sun)

What: Farm Visits are available Saturdays and Sundays from 9AM-2PM year round (with extended hours during holidays and special events). Come meet the animals, tour the farm, have a pony ride, milk the goats, and enjoy the farm. No reservations or facial covering required.

The Annual Harvest Festival and Pumpkin Patch is back! Open from 9am – 6pm daily in October (Closed Mondays), the Festival is full of pony rides, farm animals, live entertainment, music, farm crafts, archery and pig races!  Book your professional photo session in the pumpkin patch! What: Come join the Wildland Weekend Warriors in planting and watering plants in Golden Valley or Elsmere Canyon Open Space, or Taylor Trailhead to feed our local pollinators and wildlife. For this project, volunteers should bring work gloves. A long-handled shovel is optional, but helpful.
