What: The Sidewalk Poetry project includes original poems, which were stamped into cement on sidewalks throughout the City of Santa Clarita in spring 2019, as part of the Public Works department’s sidewalk rehabilitation program. Two of the stamped poems will be unveiled and the nine winning poets will have an opportunity to do a live reading. A map displaying the locations of the nine stamped poems will be available.

What: More than 20 high school bands from the Santa Clarita Valley and around the region will gather for the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Marching Band Competition. What: The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a free and uplifting event for the whole family to help fundraise to find a cure. This event features a short walk, a KidsZone, entertainment and snacks. Local sponsors will be exhibiting their booths, and there will be information about the Alzheimer’s Association’s care and breakthroughs in research to find a cure.

Touch a Truck presented by the SCV Senior Center

When: Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

What: What child, or adult for that matter, wouldn’t want to climb on a fire engine, turn on a Sheriff’s or CHP vehicle siren or take a photo with a favorite vehicle? That’s the premise behind Touch-A-Truck. The City dump truck filled with balloons will repeat its popular Beach Ball Dump just after noon, with free beach balls for all guests. In addition, there will be a variety of entertainment, costumed characters, vendors, food trucks and kid-friendly activities for everyone to enjoy. All proceeds benefit the SCV Senior Center.

Yoga with the Gibbons at the Gibbon Conservation Center

When: Saturday, Oct. 5 at 8:30 a.m.
