Families in Action: December 29, 2014
In one hour’s time, in America, seven people will successfully end their lives. That equates to one person every eight minutes. A somber note to begin the latest edition of ACTION Family Counseling’s radio program, Families In Action. Cary Quashen and his partner Bob Sharits were determined to bring their good friend and colleague, Michael Dougherty from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital to talk about how serious depression can affect our loved ones, and especially ourselves. Michael went on to describe the conditions and noteworthy symptoms of depressed people, and how to creatively and positively interact with them. Cary knows Michael, because Cary Quashen is also the chairman of the Behavior Health Unit at Henry Mayo. Together they have helped countless individuals regain their desire to live successful, blossoming lives. The hosts went on to explain how the stressful motions of the holiday season can be a volatile mixture of emotions. They ended the show discussing how important it is to spend time with your loved ones, and to never take anyone or anything for granted.
