In these leases there are CAMs (common area maintenance) divisions where they can push the taxes, if they can, to the consumers. This would focus all of Prop 15’s taxing charges on the consumer. Esbin argues that the economy is even more at stake with many businesses being already affected by low sales due to COVID. Esbin believes it is a “business killer”, a job killer for many, and should have never been on the ballot this year at all.
