Advanced Audiology Helping Patients In Creative Ways Despite Office Closure

Advanced Audiology is continuing to help its patients hear in creative ways, despite being forced to temporarily close its office doors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are not open, because unfortunately, I can’t even believe this, but we are not considered an essential business,” said Nola Aronson, owner and Santa Clarita audiologist.

Aronson and her team have come up with innovative ideas to comply with the office closure order while still continuing to offer limited services, like creating a special phone number patients can call if they have problems with their hearing aids.

“There is a cell phone phone number that you can call — it’s 661-388-6998,” Aronson said, noting that she has been walking people through minor issues they can fix themselves over the phone.

If the problem cannot be fixed during the phone call, Aronson is having patients come to the closed office individually, where they can leave their hearing aid in a designated spot to be serviced.

“The door will be locked. You will call the phone number. I’ll be inside wearing gloves, a mask and disinfecting everything, and you’ll put your hearing aid in a basket and I will take care of it for you,” Aronson explained.

In addition, Aronson is mailing batteries or other critical supplies to her patients’ homes as needed, free of charge.

“We are providing you batteries and whatever other tools that you need to keep your hearing aids working properly so that you’re able to hear during this time,” she said.

Lastly, Aronson is offering to make special efforts for high risk seniors with underlying health conditions who should not leave their homes, but need their hearing aid to be serviced in person.

“In rare cases, if there is a patient like that, we are willing to drive to the patient’s house and they can leave the hearing aid outside when they know we’re going to be there,” Aronson said. “We’ll bring tools with us to fix it.”

Above all else, Aronson wants her patients and the community in general to know that Advanced Audiology will continue to support them in whatever ways possible during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.

“We want you to know that we are here for you,” Aronson said. “You do need to continue to hear, so that’s really important… If you have any issues, please contact us. We are always here for you.”
