“During this troubling time, anyone who needs mental health/addiction recovery support, please feel free to call me on my cell at (661) 383-6550 if you need to talk,” Sharits said in a statement on The Way Out Recovery SCV website. “I would like to offer free phone counseling during this high-risk-for-relapse time.”

Over the last few months, Sharits has continued to have an open dialogue about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on mental health and substance use issues during “The Way Out Recovery Hour” on KHTS, which airs Mondays at noon.

In addition to discussing the ways in which The Way Out Recovery SCV has responded to the pandemic in terms of providing services, Sharits has also offered a number of tools to maintain physical and emotional wellbeing during the current circumstances.

“In this time of awareness of our physical health, don’t forget to care for your mental well-being too,” Sharits continued in the statement.

In addition to the phone counseling offered personally by Sharits, The Way Out Recovery SCV has resumed in-person sessions for individuals, with groups continuing to be limited.

“We are maintaining the protocols and the standards and the suggestions that are put out by health agencies and local government,” he said during a recent “The Way Out Recovery Hour.” “(We’re) cleaning everything and doing temperature checks and masks and all of that stuff that we’re supposed to do, because your safety is our No. 1 concern.”

Sharits went on to note that asking for help is the first step to recovery, and encouraged people to reach out to The Way Out Recovery SCV even if an outpatient rehab in Santa Clarita might not be the right path for the person.

“If you or someone you love is struggling or suffering with mental health or substance abuse issues, please give us a call,” Sharits said during the show. “Let us be your first call, and we’ll guide you to the place that you need to be if we can’t fill the need. We would love to help you, especially currently in this pandemic.”
