“Better than swimming but wetter.”

Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 Yoga poses done in a room heated to about body temperature… about 100 degrees.

That’s HOT! And especially nice during this cold wet winter.

Tucked in a small workout studio back between Main & Walnut streets and 8th & 9th streets in Old Town Newhall Santa Clarita, I experienced some steamy action that stretched my mind and body.

In about an hour and a half you progress through 26 postures, each building on the one before it. This series of movements and poses was designed by a world-champion Yoga instructor who recovered from a crippling injury.

These specific poses in a room kept at or slightly above body temperature lend themselves well to functional rehabilitation.

“An excellent Yoga experience for beginners and those suffering with old or new injuries. I like that Bikram combines balance, flexibility and strength conditioning…But I especially love that the heat adds a comfort and detox component!” — Santa Clarita Chiropractor and KHTS’ Functional Medicine Expert Dr. Thomas Polucki

Bikram Yoga Tips:

  • Bring a beach towel for the practice and a bath towel for the shower afterwards.
  • Wear flip flops or whatever they call them these days.
  • A conservative bathing suit is probably a better call than yoga pants.
    Did I mention… you’re going to sweat!
  • Get there 20 minutes early because they don’t let you into a class after it starts.
  • Don’t wear perfume… you’re going to sweat!

Chiropractic Yoga Synergy

Notably most people associating chiropractic with back and neck pain relief and with good reason.

Because extensive government studies from around the world rank chiropractic as a better option for fast lasting relief for these common conditions.
