Gyms Reopen this weekend. As much as I LOVE exercise and freedom, I won’t be signing up for another extreme weight loss challenge. Instead, I want to share an easier option with you…
Yes, like most people, I put on toxic weight during the lock down. But I also have enough experience with toxic weight gain and loss to stay away from the torture for temporary results this time.
Hi, I’m Dr. Thomas Polucki and I’m a food addict.
Toxic Weight Loss
As weird as it sounds, I love exercise, but it wasn’t always like that. Several serious exercise related injuries made me take breaks from most exercise, sometimes for years.
With all sincere respect, all these injuries happened under the direct supervision of certified professional trainers, before I knew better. Now I only recommend trainers with more than just basic certification.
Plus it seemed that less exercise actually fueled my nasty food addictions.
So my lock down weight gain can’t compare to what I already learned the hard way.
Food Addiction
Yes, I believe in food addiction, because I live with it and I believe that most of you do too.
When any food triggers inflammation in your digestive tract, chemicals similar to recreational drugs get released. Before long you associate the drug-like euphoria to the food and crave it more.
Exercise Addiction
Similarly, if you exercise too much, you produce those same drug-like chemicals to manage the inflammation caused by exercise.
But small amounts of exercise, twenty to forty minutes a day, based on your conditioning, helps break the addiction.
Rehabilitation
Both physical injury and food addition need rehabilitation. First, put out the fire of inflammation with anti-inflammatory diet and supplements.
Then clear the debris with targeted therapy and nutrition to bring circulation back to injured tissues.
And finally rebuild with smarter, more stress resilient tissues.
Making sure that the innate and adaptive neuro-immune system gets optimized.

Working Smarter
What’s the point of torturing yourself for temporary results?
Especially since sustainable results can happen as fast and much easier.
The fresh air, especially in the morning, can’t be matched by any gym’s “new normal” requirements.
And with little to no equipment, you can create results that rival the most expensive gyms and personal trainers.
A lot changed in the past four months. I wish gyms and personal trainers the best. In this instance, we really are all in this together.
But for me, I’ll skip the gym because in the past four weeks, I’m already down eight pounds and four inches from my waist. Without starving, boot camp or waiting in line for a work out.
You can do it too, with a little help. First Watch This,

Great piece! Eating yummy food brings us pleasure – and we overeat it because we want the pleasure it brings us to keep lasting – when we are really just in need of more lasting pleasures in our lives. When we recognize how to experience greater levels of pleasure in life, we can become unstuck from addictions and lead truly good lives, enjoying abundance. So the next time you feel like overeating, you can try asking yourself, “Is it my body that is hungry or my soul?” And then we are freed to fill the emptiness inside with the spiritual nourishment we are genuinely craving.
