Getting Your Healthy Body From Pilates In Santa Clarita

As summer quickly approaches Santa Clarita, many are beginning to focus on getting that sexy body everyone expects from Southern Californians. But being sexy doesn’t mean size 0. Being healthy is what is sexy and at Movement of Pilates they can get you healthy and sexy.

Pilates has been an exercise form that has been highly dedicated to rehabilitation and recovery from injury, mostly sports related. Over the years, Pilates’ benefits for everyday life have been discovered and helped push the exercise form into the spotlight. Today, millions of people enjoy pilates as their main type of exercise.

Historically an exercise dedicated to rehabilitation, many of the exercises performed in Pilates target the same muscle groups that rehabilitation exercises target. Especially your core. Pilates classes are amazing core workouts because of the way they’re run. Many of the exercises have elements of balancing on unstable surfaces or on a limited number of arms and legs.

For example, one of my favorite exercises involves lifting one leg into the air while pushing your hips off of the ground with the other leg. While this seems like mainly a glutes exercise, it involves a lot of focus on your core in order to keep your hips level. These types of balancing exercises, though they seem easy, are actually incredibly difficult and build your core strength.

A second part of the model involves using resistance bands to add even more strength to your muscles and help you get more tone to reach that sexy body goal. Exercises that involve resistance bands are for the muscles that can’t really get any resistance without weights or resistance bands. Muscles like your back muscles cannot really benefit from Pilates unless resistance is introduced for rowing motions.

Technique is one of the most important features in Pilates, as it is proper technique that ensures that every muscle is being used and that proper posture is used throughout the entire exercise. Because of technique’s importance to this exercise routine, it’s often common that members of Pilates classes take a few private lessons to ensure that they are properly performing the exercises.

If they are not, then the instructor can work with them individually to fix their technique and make sure that they are performing the exercise as safely and efficiently as possible.
