A construction worker is in critical condition after a fall from the roof of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital on Thursday, officials said.
The incident was reported at about 10 a.m. Thursday at the pavilion building at the hospital, according to Patrick Moody, spokesperson for Henry Mayo.
“I can confirm that an employee of a contractor fell one story off the roof of our pavilion building yesterday morning while doing roofing work,” Moody said in a statement.
The individual was taken to the emergency department, was admitted, and is currently in critical condition, according to Moody.
The Henry Mayo Pavillion is one or two stories, depending on the location in the building, with the location of the fall being one story, according to hospital officials.
“It was a tragic accident and our hearts go out to the individual’s family and loved ones,” Moody said.
The identity of the victim has not been released, according to hospital officials.
“We will be working with all relevant authorities as they conduct an investigation,” Moody said. “We are unable to provide any more details at this time.”
