Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Fundraising For Breast Cancer Awareness Month In Santa Clarita

The Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital is open for donations and works with local business partners in the Santa Clarita Valley to raise money for the Center in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Santa Clarita Valley businesses often work with the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center, donating some of the proceeds to the Center in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“It really is the result of the philanthropic generosity of Tom Veloz in honor of his wife Sheila, when she passed away from breast cancer about 19 or 20 years ago,” said Marlee Lauffer, President of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation. “He and his family and friends of Sheila’s came forward to donate money for the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center at Henry Mayo.”

Marlee Lauffer had the chance to speak on KHTS’s Afternoon Drive this month, discussing the many local business partners working with the hospital to raise money for the Breast Center at Henry Mayo.

“We’re so proud of our partners!” Lauffer said. “I mean you can get a blowout at the Blo Out Lounge, you can get a car wash in various locations, Nothing Bundt Cakes.”

In addition to making direct donations and fundraising through purchases at local partners’ locations, Santa Clarita residents are encouraged to schedule an appointment today for early detection by calling 661-200-1099.

This Santa Clarita breast cancer center has been accredited as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology since first opening its doors in December 2002.

Every three years, the center undergoes a re-accreditation process that examines images produced and evaluates procedures, including mammography, ultrasound, ultrasound-guided biopsies and more.

In addition, this Santa Clarita breast cancer center is designated as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by the National Consortium of Breast Centers, National Quality Measures for Breast Centers.

This accreditation is given based on data that measures the center’s processes and timeliness of care, which is then compared to other centers across the nation and used to monitor quality improvements.
