Insight Teen Hour Focuses On The Effects Narcissistic Parents Effects Have On Teens

Host Fredrick Schulin is joined by psychotherapist and divorce mediator, Steven Unruh, to discuss the damage caused to teens by divorce.

Divorce can be one of the most difficult things in life.

Acceptance is overshadowed by a host of other issues such as dividing assets and creating a new life.

Perhaps the greatest victim of all when it comes to divorce proceedings are children, “We see a lot of parents who are going through divorce with teens in their family, and I cant stress enough how affected the teens are through these divorces. Lawsuits, from my perspective, the biggest losers are always the teens.” Host Fredrick Schulin said on Insight Treatment Hour.

Joined by guest Steven Unruh, a psychotherapist and divorce mediator, the two discussed narcissistic parents and how they impact their children.

Working in Pasadena and Westlake Village, Unruh discussed how narcissistic parents unknowingly impact their child’s development, “One of the things I see with an overly narcissistic parent, is that they don’t apologize” he said.

Unruh says this often leads to males lashing out against others and females inducing self harm upon themselves, either mentally or physically.

Unruh says that creating a plan and safe environment was key to ensuring that his three sons were not negatively impacted by his own divorce.

Focusing on divorce mediation for the past 12 years, Unruh says that mediation can be a more healthy and financially prudent way to resolve the issues that come with separation, “Think about mediation” Steven said. “You don’t have to give up your attorney. But I represent a couple equally. I sit down and tell them that my goal is to resolve all of your issues, your assets, and your parenting plan, in a way that’s fair and so that each of you would leave financially stable.”

  1. That may help if their parents are trying to brainwash them into the Trans Fad that’s popular with Liberals!
