On Insight Treatment Hour on KHTS, difficult parent-child relationships and teen mental health struggles were discussed by Host Frederik Schulin, CEO of the Insight Treatment Center.
Head of the Insight Treatment Center Frederik Schulin discussed teen mental health struggles and parent relationships with guest Glynis Hodgkinson from Divinity Recovery Center.
“I’m sure a lot of parents, they really want to do something, they want to do the right thing,” Schulin said, regarding parents’ actions when their children struggle with mental health issues.
The pair discussed teens’ various issues with mental health, frequent responses to these sorts of struggles, as well as Hodgkinson’s own struggles as a teenager.
“I was getting into trouble, I was getting DUI’s, I wasn’t showing up to school,” Hodgkinson said. “Things got a little out of hand.”

The discussion also went over ways parents can get their teens involved in a support group or organization so that their mental health struggles can be dealt with.
“I went into this long term juvenile detention center,” Hodgkinson said. “It was kind of a relief, because I was able to be honest about what was really going on with me.”
