Many people don’t realize that a potential side effect of chemotherapy is toxicity to the inner ear, which can result in hearing loss, balance disorders or ringing in the ears, according to Aronson.
While chemotherapy can save a breast cancer patient’s life, these side effects can sometimes be felt for months or even years, creating the need for a Santa Clarita audiologist as a vital member of a patient’s treatment team.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon is offering special edition pink hearing aids set to be available at Advanced Audiology, and donating a portion of proceeds to breast cancer research, according to officials.
Aronson’s participation in the campaign, called “Hear in Pink,” is not the only way she “stands in solidarity” with breast cancer patients, however, officials said.

The Santa Clarita audiologist also serves as vice president of the board of directors at Circle of Hope, a local nonprofit organization that provides emotional, educational and financial assistance, as well as supportive wellness therapies, to those with cancer.
In addition, Advanced Audiology is title sponsor of Circle of Hope’s 2019 Afternoon Tea fundraiser slated for Oct. 12 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.
Aronson noted that with advanced technology, early detection and proper care, the Santa Clarita audiologist and her team can address hearing issues resulting from chemotherapy in breast cancer patients and restore their quality of life.
