Orthodontist In Santa Clarita Discusses The iTero Digital Impression System

An Orthodontist in Santa Clarita recently explained a more accurate, less-invasive, digital impression system called iTero.

Orthodontists can now take a digital impression that is highly accurate without the mess.

“The new technology completely eliminates the tray and putty impressions where the experience is comparable to stuffing a big wad of gum in your mouth,” explained officials with Embrace Your Smile Orthodontics in Santa Clarita.

With the older technique, it was not uncommon to have to take multiple rounds of impressions because they were broken, misplaced, or even rejected. It was also very unpleasant for the patient because of the uncomfortable putty and the need to hold the mouth still until it hardens.

With the iTero scanner, a more accurate impression is created from the start. It is a much more comfortable patient experience and it allows the orthodontist to communicate better about the treatment process because it gives the patient the ability to see their teeth instantly in 3D.

“The iTero scanner digitally captures the structure of the teeth and gums using the latest optical technology,” explained an Embrace Your Smile official.

Your mouth is scanned with a radiation-free laser, which is a compact, hand-held wand. It can be started and stopped as many times as needed and usually takes a couple minutes to complete.

The end result is a digitally perfect, 3D impression of both the teeth and soft tissue structures.

Digital software allows the patient to view the process as it scans and creates a 3D model and displays on a computer screen.

The iTero Scanner can be used for any orthodontic treatment that you decide on and is a remarkable improvement to the orthodontic process.
