Raising Awareness About Teen Mental Health, And Help Parents Looking For Guidance As Well

Frederick from the Insight Treatment Intensive outcare program in Santa Clarita talks with special guest Stefani Roscoe as they discuss the many benefits of group therapy.

The Insight Treatment Hour is meant to raise awareness about teen mental health, and help parents looking for guidance as well.

Stefani Roscoe is an LCSW from Sherman Oaks and the Los Angeles area, but she, like Fredrick, believes group therapy is the best and more effective way for teens to get the right help.

Stefani started her journey is social work which is where she thrives as she is passionate about social justices with a focus on kids and families,

Stefani helps families with teens better communicate as it can be challenging at this special age.

Stefani agrees group therapy is such a great way of doing therapy and it is a great skill set to have as it is a dynamic setting.

Stefani says in her experience, she has found more success in the group therapy patient group because she believes when kids are in a group, they start to see they are not alone.

Relating to each other, helps their self esteem and their ability to speak more on their feelings as they feel more comfortable and safe to share more.

Stefani says that it is important to really encourage the teen during the beginning of their treatment as they discover how they want to proceed and the kind of help they want to get better.

Stefani says even if patients just want to listen in, Stefani is still adamant about having them join group therapy then later discuss why they are falling asleep and seem uninterested, for many teens will often fall asleep during group therapy.

Stefani feels it is also important to create a sort of collaborative community with each teen in group therapy where they can check in on each other throughout the meeting and create an open line of communication.

Insight Treatment Center in Santa Clarita is dedicated to helping teens of all ages struggling with mental health where they promote a lot of group therapy to help teens and parents as well.

  1. Don’t let the teens emulate & listen to Gangster Rap (PC called hip hop/rap to sell, sell, sell to native kids thinking it’s cool)!
