“For individuals who are just now exploring their options for the first time, the amount of styles on the market may seem overwhelming,” officials with Santa Clarita Hearing Center said.

While these officials noted that “many factors will determine the best model of hearing aid for you,” they also clearly listed the differences between available devices to help their clients make the best possible choice for their unique needs.

Santa Clarita Hearing Center officials noted that, while there are many styles of hearing aid, “all devices find themselves in one of two categories.” These categories are “behind-the-ear” (BTE) hearing aids and “in-the-ear” (ITE) hearing aids.

BTE hearing aids consist of “a tube that connects to an ear mold or tip inside of your ear canal.” Santa Clarita Hearing Center officials stated that BTE hearing aids are available in the “widest selection of colors, sizes, features, degrees of power, and battery types,” some of which are nearly invisible to the observer.

ITE hearing aids “sit inside of the ear using an impression for a custom fit.” These hearing aids can be so small as to be completely unseen by others. Larger models allow for longer battery life and “advanced features like volume controls.”

Additional special features, such as the ability to listen to phone calls directly over Bluetooth and other wireless streaming options, are available in certain hearing aid models among both the BTE and ITE categories.

“In most cases, you can install an app onto your smartphone that allows you to adjust the volume or change the settings of your hearing aid,” officials explained. “You can create a customized hearing experience depending on the environment you’re in, all with the discreet and simple action of touching the screen of your phone.”

In some cases, these adjustments can even be set to take place automatically as the hearing aid detects changes in the listener’s hearing environment.

Ultimately, Santa Clarita Hearing Center officials said that clients should take into account their “unique hearing ability, lifestyle requirements (and) budget” in addition to their preference for specific features and hearing aid styles. Their expert staff can help hearing patients navigate the many hearing aid choices available on the market.

“Every pair of hearing aids we offer is accompanied by a money-back guarantee, so you literally have nothing to lose,” Santa Clarita Hearing Center officials said. “With a risk-free trial period that allows you to test them out in a variety of situations and environments, we’re sure you’ll find devices that you love. Your success is our success!”
