Congressman Mike Garcia welcomed and recognized twelve recent high school graduates and their families from our 25th Congressional District on June 17.
Isaiah Michael Seidman
Recently, I had an opportunity to meet one of the selected cadets, Isaiah Seidman at Valencia’s Corner Bakery where I learned what a terrific American patriot he’s become at an early age.
Isaiah began running cross country in the eighth grade and continued his excellent running throughout his West Ranch High School career where his team won many track meets. In his senior year, Isaiah was ranked in California’s top ten of all cross country runners, plus he graduated with a 3.8 Grade Point Average.
For some time, West Point recruiters had taken notice of Isaiah’s talent and academics and in November 2018 he accepted their offer to attend our nation’s most historic and famous Military Academy. Following Isaiah’s June 2019 West Ranch High School graduation, he attended West Point’s Preparatory School from July 2019 to March 2020.
When I asked Isaiah his thoughts on the physical and mental toughness required for success at West Point, Isaiah said, “Those two traits are exactly what’s required for grueling, long cross country running which I believe are perfectly suited for attending any military academy and I relish the challenge.”
The graduates listed below are those he sponsored to enter America’s Military Academies and each new cadet was individually honored at Congressman Garcia’s Valencia field office Wednesday, each receiving a Congressional Certificate of Achievement.
