UPDATE: Wobble has been adopted! Hope is still waiting for her forever home.
Hope and Wobble are two very special kittens from St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary who bonded over their disabilities: Hope suffered spinal cord damage at the hands of humans, while Wobble was born with his back legs reversed.

Now 6 months old, Hope had to have her tail amputated when she first came to St. Bonnie’s last fall as a result of her injuries, which also caused her to lose full motion of her back legs.
“Humanity isn’t always the nicest, so she was in a very bad situation. A lot of trauma happened to her,” said Megan Haselwood, an adoption counselor at St. Bonnie’s. “She is now permanently disabled. She kind of hops like a bunny rabbit. She is the most cutest thing on earth, but unfortunately she’s also incontinent.”

Though Hope seemed depressed from everything she had been through in her first few months of recovery, things changed when she was introduced to 8-month-old Wobble earlier this year.
“They love to play all day — that’s all they do,” Haselwood said. “I think they feed off each other, because they realize that both of them are special, they are different than other cats.”
Wobble’s birth defect doesn’t slow him down, and Haselwood noted he is otherwise “a completely normal” cat who can run, walk and scoot around just fine.
While Hope acts like a normal cat, Haselwood explained that her growth was stunted at the time of her injuries, which could sadly mean her lifespan might be decreased.
“We don’t know how much time she will have, unfortunately,” Haselwood said. “The ideal adopter would be someone that would take the extra time and the extra care for these cats… Just someone that is willing to give that time and love to these special kittens that really need it.”

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series
Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase nearly 100 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 76 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Melissa Lampert-Abramovitch, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
