Los Angeles County Curfew Still Set For 6 P.M. Start Despite False Emergency Alert

The Los Angeles County curfew for Monday is still scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. despite an emergency alert that “mistakenly” announced that it would begin sooner.

On Monday morning, officials with Los Angeles County announced that they were extending the previous day’s curfew, and would require all residents within the county to stay at home between 6 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The extension and the original curfew were put in place due to what L.A. County Sheriff Alex Villanueva called “civil disturbances.” These “disturbances” stem from protests across the county following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last week.

However, an emergency alert was sent out several hours later to all residents within the County stating that the curfew would now last from 5 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Stephanie English, who serves as a field deputy for Supervisor Kathryn Barger, called the alert a “mistake” minutes after it was issued.

“The curfew starts at 6 o’clock,” she added.

Moments after that, the official Los Angeles County Twitter account posted a tweet restating that the curfew county-wide would not begin until 6 p.m. Monday, with the caveat that “other cities may issue their own stricter curfew orders.”

However, the City of Santa Clarita will not be enacting a stricter curfew, at least for Monday night and Tuesday morning, City spokesperson Carrie Lujan confirmed Monday afternoon.

To ensure a “timely departure” of all residents before the 6 p.m. curfew, all Los Angeles County golf courses, trails, community gardens, community and regional parks were closed at 4 p.m. Monday.

The curfew in Los Angeles County does not apply to individuals going to or from work, those experiencing homelessness and without a viable shelter and those seeking medical treatment, according to the action.

The Los Angeles County curfew also does not apply to peace officers, firefighters, the National Guard or any other military personnel, according to the order.

Anyone found in violation of the L.A. County curfew is subject to a misdemeanor charge, punishable by a $1,000 fine, imprisonment not exceeding six months, or both, according to the Sheriff’s Department.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger, who represents the fifth district including Santa Clarita, has declared a state of emergency after looting and other crimes have been reported throughout the county.

“This emergency comes as we are in the midst of battling another emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This taxes our resources, but not our resolve,” Barger said. “We will do everything in our power to keep our communities safe and protect lives and property. I continue to call on our residents to maintain calm and seek solutions productively, not destructively.”

  1. Surprised people aren’t starting to whine about their freedoms being infringed upon!!!!Even when it is for their own safety!!! Masks, curfews….

  2. Gavin Newsom is killing Californians. Governor Newson is a tyrant, and a crook. Gavin Newsom made a 1.4 BILLION dollar purchase for defective medical face masks thru a Chinese company, BYD. The deal involved some very sketchy insider trading. The ongoing disinformation about COVID-19 cases is also frustrating. The recovery rate is over 98%, and most people do not even show symptoms.
Despite the data, Governor Newsom is denying over half a million licensed, highly trained professionals their human right to earn a living, and is using the strong arm of the law to punish and grind them into submission.
There is NO scientific that show masks keep people healthy. In fact, medical experts have made claims that say the exact opposite. That breathing in our own C02 causes an increase of white blood cells. Perhaps King Newsom feels if he orders his peasants to wear face masks, this somehow justifies his sketchy Billion dollar purchase and his insider profits.
Today Governor Newsom dishonestly responded to Trmps remarks today about taking control of the violent protests. Trump essentially told the Governors to protect life and property in their states. If they can’t do that, then he will. Newsom glossed over that part of the president’s message and chose instead to Grand Stand and virtue signal. Newsom said he will use empathy, not force and blamed institutions for the violent behavior. Governor Newsom will probably try to profit on the back end of that too. Get this Governor OUT before it’s too late. Him and Garcetti are dangerous. https://recallgavin2020.com

    • First off masks are the only proven method to prevent people from spreading an exhaled to each other this method has been used for centuries which is why it should have been the first recommendation made by the CDC before this thing spread, CDC failed us on that one. But I do have to agree on you and the President about the Gavinor being a Pansy by not putting an end to these rioting looting thugs. The cop brutality message was lost and over taken by these thugs it’s time to end it now.

      • Spreading what? Something that is not even deadly? Most people who test positive are a-systematic? Unless you’re 90 years old and living in a nursing home, you don’t have much to worry about. Not to minimize the elderly, just pointing out that we have all been scammed by the media and these tyrannical Governors and leaders. This is about control, not health. LA County public health director Barbara Fererr is a fraud, a medicated nut case and a shill. The news agencies are complicit. Dr Fauci should be sued!

        • You know, your all right, except for ANNE, she can’t help herself, she likes to whine, o’well

        • You brainwashed idiot it’s killing people in all countries yes the oldest is the weakest and most likely to die, same with any flu or fight for your life. So what are you saying f the old? Fifteen percent of the infected are hospitalized and we still have around fifty people dying every couple of days in LA county alone. It’s not going away. Can we close down longer NO it’s time to just wear those masks and carry on with life and hope for the best. yes fauci should be fired he caused a lot of this spread because he didn’t recommend face covering for everyone from the start

          • Will,
Fauci should be fired because he is not a qualified doctor. You are assuming facts that are not in evidence…saying if we ALL wore face masks day one, no one would be dead. People were dying before Covid, and people will continue to die after this. Before you call someone a brainwashed idiot, maybe check yourself. You believe in something ONLY because the news told you to. The media told you it was deadly to everyone when it wasn’t. The media put a magnifying glass over something that was not a threat, not like they were making it out to be, and talked about it 24/7. They closed down the economy and the schools for this. It is people like you and Anne, compliant little sheep who believe everything they see on the evening news that made it easy. Hopefully some day, when people pull their heads out of their a*s, they will go back and audit the death certificates and see the data was manipulated and they lied in order to exaggerate the death count.

        • I don’t watch today’s opinion news networks and I don’t watch the YouTube conspiracies either. I research facts, history and methods used by the countries that deal with these viruses more than others. I suggest you do the same and no they don’t write off every death as covid I have spoken to the er doctor friends of mine about that conspiracy theory, he only puts covid if it was positive thwt it caused the death.

    • Uh….excuse me while I SNEEZE….B$&:! S-!” IDK about what research your citing. But if YOU want to not wear a mask. Be my guest While-E-Coyote! Me and the other 99.99% of the population always need less traffic with fairly uneducated people driving! Thank you keep up the great insight!
