The Music Makers PTA was established to support the music program in the Newhall School District.
While traditional PTAs support individual schools, the Music Makers PTA is a district-wide unit that provides benefit for students in all ten Newhall schools.
PTA volunteers provide support to Newhall’s music program in many ways, and at the Governing Board meeting on Tuesday, June 17th, support comes in the form of a check for $35,500. MMPTA members and parent volunteers raised the funds at the district’s Winter Concerts, Beginners’ Showcase, and Spring Concerts, which feature the district’s Honor
Orchestra.
Fundraising includes a suggested donation at the door, and the sale of items such as t-shirts, music folders, pencils, fresh flowers, and a variety of drinks and snacks. This year
was one of the PTA’s biggest years for donations.
The annual budget for the music program in Newhall is approximately $500,000. The funds provided to the district by the Music Makers PTA will be used to support instrument repairs, purchasing of recorders for our third graders, the partial supplement of a staff member’s salary, and the purchase of music books.
“Our choral and orchestra programs have a rich history of providing unique opportunities to every one of our students for over 35 years,” said Nancy Copley, assistant superintendent. “Music Makers PTA’s support is just one example of how parents and the district value this unique program.”
The Music Makers PTA donation will be made at the NSD Governing Board meeting on Tuesday, June 17th, 7:00PM, at the Newhall School District administrative offices.
