Giving Tuesday Returns To Santa Clarita

With the seasonal savings of Black Friday and Cyber Monday now past, Giving Tuesday has returned in Santa Clarita and across the globe, which asks people to give back.

The movement doesn’t have an official first year but has roots that stretch back as far as 2011.

Giving Tuesday as a movement has only grown in the international consciousness since its early days, and has since officially organized as its own nonprofit foundation, which offers resources and information on how to give back in one’s local community.

Santa Clarita is home to a number of nonprofits, which naturally are seeking any support available from the local community at any time, but particularly on Giving Tuesday amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Santa Clarita nonprofits participating in Giving Tuesday include:

A Light of Hope – A support program for youth and young adults 14-26 years of age and their families struggling with substance abuse issues.
Boys and Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley – The local Boys and Girls Club affiliate offers high-quality, affordable programs and facilities for young people in the area.
Bridge To Home – Offers help for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Carousel Ranch – Provides therapeutic horseback riding for special needs children, improving the quality of their lives.
Child and Family Center – Provides quality care and services to children and families in need, offering education, treatment, prevention and advocacy to strengthen families today for stronger communities tomorrow.
Circle of Hope – Provides emotional, educational and financial assistance as well as supportive wellness therapies to the Santa Clarita Valley cancer community.
COC Foundation – Generates philanthropic support for College of the Canyons to endow scholarships and to support educational programs and capital improvements.
Family Promise – Their mission is to help homeless and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.
Henry Mayo Foundation – Raises funds for the capital needs of Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, such as expanding services and acquiring new technology, while fostering community partnerships, volunteerism, and positive community awareness of the Hospital.
LARC Ranch – Provides homes, recreation, social activities, physical fitness, day training, workplace training and more to developmentally disabled adults on their 65-acre main residential facility in Bouquet Canyon.
Michael Hoefflin Foundation – Assists children diagnosed with cancer and their families with individualized, caring support that addresses the various ways in which life is disrupted for families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.
Providence Holy Cross Foundation – Dedicated to the philanthropic support of Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, serving through the development of charitable contributions and through engagement with the community.
Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc. – Provides outpatient health care services and programs, health education, community resources, and referrals, particularly to the uninsured and under-insured residents of Santa Clarita Valley.
Santa Clarita Coalition – Established to connect other Santa Clarita non-profits and stakeholders in a number of support areas with a primary focus in the Santa Clarita Valley.
Santa Clarita Grocery – An all-volunteer organization serving “week worth of groceries” and personal care items, for our guests including fresh milk, eggs, produce, canned goods, dried goods, meat, deli and breads.
Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center – Serves the senior community in Santa Clarita with special events, meal services and other activities.
Triumph Foundation – Specialize in help for children, adults, and Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury/Disorder (SCI) to triumph over their disability and minimize the obstacles that one faces after suffering traumatic injury.
Zonta Club of Santa Clarita – Seeks to improve the lives of women and girls in our community and worldwide through our service projects, advocacy, education and awareness campaigns.
