AB 1993 Could Be The Final Straw That Kills The California Economy
A proposed new law – AB1993 – introduced by Assembly Members Wicks, Aguiar-Curry, Low, and Akilah Weber would require all California public and private businesses of all sizes to have their employees and independent contractors to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by January 1, 2023.
Wicks Defends Her Authorship
One of the bills leading authors is Assemblymember Buffy Wicks.
“The pathway to endemic is through vaccines – and to get there, Californians need consistency and certainty,” said Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-Oakland). “People have experienced so much whiplash over the past couple years when it comes to ever-changing guidelines in the workplace. Workers are craving stability, and vaccines are the key to making that happen.”
The bill would overrule any variation to the mandate by any California city including charter cities.
Valladares Opposes AB 1993
Santa Clarita Assemblymember Suzette Valladares (R-Santa Clarita) opposes AB 1993. “Early in the pandemic, I was proud to bring vaccines to my community for those that wanted them. Though I am fully vaccinated and believe that the vaccine is safe and effective, I also believe it is a personal decision between each person and their doctor. Instead of focusing on intrusive mandates, we should move towards a more common-sense approach to managing Covid.”
The law would remain in effect until the centers for disease control deems it no longer necessary. However, the requirement does not apply to a person who is ineligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine due to a medical condition or disability or because of a sincerely held religious belief that precludes the person from receiving a vaccination, subject to verification.
Santa Clarita Businesses Will Be Decimated
KHTS spoke with several Santa Clarita businesses. Approximately 22% of their employees have not been vaccinated. We were told many employees would quit and move out of state if required to get the vaccine.
“California already has a major shortage of employees. This bill would turn that shortage into a full-blown disaster,” shared one local employer who wanted to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation. “The folks in Sacramento are clueless when it comes to running a small business. If they spent one day in our shoes, they would have an entirely different perspective. The Covid-19 vaccine has consistently demonstrated it does not prevent people from getting and spreading Covid, so what else is the motivation to enforce taking the vaccine?
Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem, Jason Gibbs Is Concerned
Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem, Jason Gibbs vehemently opposes AB 1993. “Assemblymember Buffy Wick’s AB1993 is the pinnacle of virtue signaling on an issue that she, or any other elected official, has no business putting themselves in the middle of. Never has a single dose vaccination, let alone an inoculation that may have indefinite boosters, been an entry requirement to earning a living in California.
No matter how hard politicians, political pundits, or society in general pushes to justify their intrusion into an individual’s personal decision, no one should be coerced into picking between a job or a medical procedure. As an elected official, we swear an oath to the people that we will uphold and defend the Constitution, and that Constitution takes certain activities that governments may want to impose “for our own good” off the table for discussion.
Freedom to worship, freedom to assemble, freedom of speech, are just a few of these guarantees, and they were not written into the Bill of Rights with an asterisk or with a litmus test for approval! Society’s biggest failure during the pandemic has been the segregation created by absolutism when it comes to the vaccine. We have taught children that not wearing a mask or not getting a vaccine will, not could, harm yourself, your parents, or grandparents.
We have cemented into society the belief that you are either sick, or will be sick, unless you take this inoculation. And the potential negative impacts from the vaccine, while statistically in the short term appear minimal, should not be a barometer for validating a government’s decree, and will provide no comfort to those who are in fact harmed, especially when they did not want to receive it.
We would all be better served to let our doctors, our parents, our families, and our faith, guide us when making these decisions, and whatever choice is made, show compassion, and not ridicule. We have a long road ahead to recover from the pandemic, so let’s try to remove the unnecessary bumps along the way, together!”

I get that this bill could cause issues and that this whole subject has become a hot political over-debated topic. Putting that aside, this article is written more like an editorial than a news item. The headline, subheads and content are horrible. They are opinions, not facts.
Personally I happen to agree with most of it. But for a “news” organization to start off the story with a headline like that is irresponsible. Please stop this division crap and let the readers and visitors decide if the bill is a good thing or bad. You’re always talking about freedom and free will, then just report the story and let the SCV residents have the freedom to decide how they react.
This fricking state and their drama!!! Control, control and control !! What about Science and numbers??? Someone should tell the people of California that the covid-19 death rate in this state is the exact same as Florida’s!!! The death rate percentage is the same, wake up people!!!
In Florida,1 in every 295 have died.Almost 73,000 deaths.
In CALIF. 1 in 447 have died. About 88,000 deaths.California has a much larger population than Florida.This info did not come from TV, it came from statistics gathered by reputable scientific sources without an agenda.
Comparing these two states doesn’t mean we shouldn’t get vaccinated or be required to, with a few exceptions. The Preamble to the Constitution states that we want to “promote the general welfare” of the people. Let’s get healthy. Sorry if you can’t find a way to understand this.
The death rate is 1.5% in both states. A percentage is an average, regardless of population size….that’s why it’s called a percentage!
One state does everything and one state does nothing, but the numbers are the same.

I guess you were expecting the same story result as reported by liberal media, and not getting both sides of the issue. California Democratic laws have created an anti-business attitude. Since this law is effecting businesses, the reporter asked what would be the impact on them and their American citizen employees.
The result disaster!
President Biden attempted to do the same thing, but it was overturned in court.
How about mandatory vaccinations for all the illegals entering California?
Agree completely with requiring illegals to be fully vaccinated, just prior to deporting them to wherever they came from.

Seat belts and airbags went through decades of testing and are not injected into your body that you can’t remove. Seatbelts and airbags can be taken off. Ridiculous comparison. Seatbelts and airbags also aren’t coerced or forced or you lose your jobs
That’s an interesting point so I’m assuming you’re ok with mask mandates that you can take off and don’t go into your body? Do you think a driver that keeps getting tickets and loses their license would lose their job? Also at what point do you feel testing is enough? Obviously airbags weren’t tested for decades before they were added to cars. So is 1 year of testing enough, 5? When you think of the shear numbers of people that got vaccinated I am sure it is much greater than the number of tests performed on airbags. Does that count for anything?

Interesting. New studies out of Japan show 2 things that may not be mutually exclusive, meaning one, or both may be true.
1. With the new B. A. 2 variant, they are seeing negative efficacy. In other words, since the vaccine produces a spike protein specific to the original variant the immune system produces a specific antibody for that specific spike. As the spike mutates the antibodies produced no longer bind properly to the mutated spike, but somehow make it easier for the virus to enter the cell.
2. Japanese scientists wanted to know if the Lipid Nanoparticles were staying in the vicinity of the injection site, as claimed by the manufacturer. Their findings revealed that, in fact, the Lipid Nanoparticles had migrated throughout the body, with the highest concentrations being found in the female ovaries. Perhaps this explains women’s change of cycle after the jab.
Every politician in California that doesn’t pay attention to the REAL science. Most people don’t need the vaccine, but those that should take any of the vaccines (the people with multiple comorbidities), well, they don’t and they die. The Pfizer documents released by the FDA prove that. Its also been proven that taking any vaccine, will not prevent nor provide anyone else with protection except for the person receiving the jab. Therefore, if everyone in the world were fully vaccinated, they could obtain Covid, still pass it along to the someone else and have the potential to kill someone by spreading the virus even if they show zero signs of having covid. I contracted Covid, had zero symptoms and recovered unscathed. The Polyethylene Glycol and Polyphenols that are used in the available Covid vaccines are in levels that’ll cause adverse reactions in my body. I found out the hard way years ago after I was hospitalized from taking some exlax with massively painful cramps in my gut, small hives and shortness of breath. I know I’m one of the fortunate few, but I also know hundreds of unvaccinated people who don’t have comorbidities, caught Covid once, survived (when it was at its worst) and haven’t caught Covid again. I also know people who have more than a few comorbidities that are fully vaccinated (some boosted) and caught Covid more than once but survived. I believe that the vaccine works for those who ACTUALLY need it, not everyone. One size doesn’t always fit everyone.
