Anna Kumar, a Santa Clarita resident and small business owner, announced Tuesday she is running for the SCV Water Board District 2 seat, officials said.
Kumar is a small business owner and insurance agent who has lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for eight years, and if elected to the SCV Water Board she plans to fight for fair and affordable water rates as well as water reliability, according to her Campaign.
“I’m tired of seeing politicians who try to curtail human rights rather than expand and enrich them,” Kumar said. “This includes our rights to clean, affordable water.”
Kumar brings to the race over 20 years of experience in business management, complex contract review and the delicate task of handling confidential professional matters, according to officials.
Kumar is a “compassionate” listener who cares about the people and businesses she has worked with throughout her career, according to officials.
Kumar is passionate about the environment, and if elected to serve as the SCV Water Board District 2 director, she plans to work hard to make sure the Santa Clarita community is safeguarded, and that the Santa Clara River and its ecosystem are not adversely impacted by future development plans.
Kumar plans to continue to proudly fight for the people of the Santa Clarita Valley to make sure they always have safe and reliable drinking water, according to Kumar’s campaign.
“I will work hard to earn every vote and if elected I will fight for water reliability and for fair and affordable water rates,” Kumar added.
Kumar and her husband Reggie have two children. In addition to operating her businesses, she volunteers on the Parent Teacher Association and serves as the treasurer on the Board for her
children’s school.
She is also a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, and serves on the congregation’s educational board.
