California Voter Registration Deadline Approaching Next Week

The California voter registration deadline is approaching next week, with same-day voter registration available at in-person polling locations.

Oct. 19 is scheduled to be the last day for voters in California to register to vote online or via mail, although voters are set to be able to register at Los Angeles County vote centers through Election Day.

Online submissions must be completed by Oct. 19, while mail-in voter registration will have to be postmarked for that date or handed in on the 19th at the latest, which is 15 days before Election Day.

Voters can register to vote, pre-register to vote, or check registration status online. To request a voter registration application, to be sent by mail, email election staff here.

Registration applications should also be available for pick-up in person at designated locations. Additional information on registering to vote can be found here.

In-person voting is set to be available in nearly 20 locations throughout Santa Clarita, with some locations scheduled to open on Oct. 24 and others planned to open on Oct. 30. All locations would remain open through Nov. 3, Election Day.

Mail-in ballots can be requested during voter registration. These ballots can either be sent out via mail or by ballot drop-off. Several vote by mail ballot drop-off locations are available throughout Santa Clarita.

Drop-off box locations in Santa Clarita include several at parks, libraries, and fire stations.

Voters can also opt to receive updates on the status of their mail-in ballots by signing up for “Where’s My Ballot?”.

Re-registering to vote becomes necessary if one’s residence or mailing address, name or political party choice changes.
