Santa Clarita City Councilwoman Marsha McLean filed paperwork earlier this month, announcing her campaign for a seat in the 2022 City Council elections in the coming fall.
In paperwork filed with the City of Santa Clarita on Wednesday, Jan. 12 McLean announced her intention to run for re-election this fall.
First elected in 2002, McLean has served as mayor four times over her 20-year career on the Santa Clarita City Council: in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019.
McLean is the founder of the North Los Angeles County Cities Protection Coalition – formed to speak as one voice against negative impacts on communities within the High-Speed Rail proposed routes.
Before throwing her hat into the ring for the City Council, McLean worked for the Los Angeles Police Department and a Los Angeles City Councilman, as well as the U.S. Government at the American Embassies in Tel Aviv, Israel and Paris, France, according to her official profile on the City of Santa Clarita website.
McLean’s passion for local transportation led her to establish the SCV Transportation Coalition, and she has advocated for improvements to roads and metro services in and around the Santa Clarita Valley for decades.
KHTS left a message with McLean for comment, but did not receive a response as of the publication of this article.

I believe that councilperson McLean had done an adequate job in her many years of service to our community but it’s well time for her to “give it up” and let “new blood” enter our City council.
It’s time someone stopped her, she has been bleeding this city for too
darn many years.
She needs to return all she has milked out of SCV for
the past 30 years!
Which century is that photo from?
She is opposed to term limits. Why is that?
Oh, and conflict of interest.
