Midterm Election Results To Be Certified In Two Weeks

California’s midterm election results are set to be certified in two weeks.

On Friday, Dec. 16, California’s Secretary of State is set to certify the 2022 midterm election results after receiving official results from county officials.

County officials are set to finalize and send their results and submit them to the Secretary of State by this Thursday.

By California law, county election officials have 30 days to count every ballot and conduct a post-election audit.

“The election results are never final until the Secretary of State has compiled the official statewide results after all county elections officials have reported their official canvass of the votes,” read a statement from the California Secretary of State’s office.

Election officials can begin tallying votes as early as 29 days before the Election Date. Ballots counted during that period include vote-by-mail and early voting location ballots.

Results from early ballot counts can only be released once polls close on Election Day.

Although results are released beginning Election Night, a complete tally of votes is not complete then due to some vote-by-mail and provisional ballots that have not been received by officials.

Some local races in Santa Clarita have already been unofficially called.

Republican Mike Garcia is projected to retain his seat in the House of Representatives.

In the California State Assembly race, Democrat Pilar Schiavo is expected to oust incumbent Republican Suzette Valladares.

Laurene Weste, Bill Miranda and Marsh McLean are all expected to keep their seats on the city council.

  1. Oh sure. We already know ahead of time now who is going to win. No more honest voting.

  2. The results “so far” is what’s being reported, Rosie.
