Garcia Discusses California Doctors, Recent Bills And Sexually Violent Predator In On-Air Interview

On Wednesday, Congressman Mike Garcia, R- Santa Clarita, spoke with KHTS on political topics including law enforcement concerns, the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act and news of a sexually violent predator possibly being placed in Lancaster.

During the interview, Garcia reflected back on visiting the new Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and what it means to him and the deputies who serve the community.

“It’s great,” Garcia said. “It’s good to see law enforcement treated the way they should be. And nationwide this isn’t the case.”

Garcia spoke on his views about funding law enforcement and what he sees as an issue with the treatment of law enforcement across the country.

“There’s a lot of cities and states right now that are pushing to actually defund our police, and they’ve done that in spades,” Garcia said. “It’s great to see our beautiful little city actually investing in our law enforcement, giving them an upgrade with a facility.”

The interview shifted to a discussion on the recent news about the upcoming discharge of a sexually violent predator in Orange County who is being considered to be relocated to Lancaster, potentially within the Congressman’s district.

“This guy’s got a history of sexually violent crimes and atrocities against women and girls,” Garcia said. “We just wanted to put a spotlight on this and make sure that members of our community…have the ability to testify and give their opinion on the matter.”

Garcia shifted then to a discussion about the Military Spouse Licensing Relief Act, a bill supported by the Congressman that aims to make the move from state to state that military members and their families often experience easier, allowing spouses of military members to retain their professional licenses with each move.

“This has been just devastating military families for a long time,” Garcia said. “This [bill] doesn’t just benefit the military and their spouses but also the communities.”

Now that the bill has passed in the House, it may be voted on by the Senate by the end of this year in December, according to the Congressman.

“In a lot of our communities we do need some of these professionals and these services,” Garcia said. “Whether it’s a nurse, a doctor, lawyers, beauticians, these are people that can contribute to our communities if they are just allowed to practice their profession in California.”

  1. Mike Garcia just voted in favor of Steve Bannon. He continues to support the Trump position of criminality, violence, bullying and undemocratic activities. I hope he is voted OUT.

  2. CR, more puffery of delusions

  3. DECENT people do not support Trump.
