Santa Clarita and SCVTV are bringing a live streaming view of the City Council race from City Hall on Tuesday, so residents can watch the Election Day results of the vote in real time. Tuesday marks the end of a monthslong race, as candidates vie for three seats in an election expected to be extremely close. There are 13 candidates on the ballot. Santa Clarita City Council race is less than 10 days away, candidates have filed their last campaign disclosures before voters hit the ballots and nearly 7,000 votes have been cast. In the last three City Council elections, votes by mail report have shown a turnout of about 2-to-1 in favor of mail-in or absentee ballots for Santa Clarita. In 2012, slightly more than 11,600 of the 15,390 votes cast were sent by mail. Only 3,783 votes were cast at the polls on election day. Absentee or mail-in ballots may be submitted up until the close of polls on election day, said Susan Caputo, assistant city clerk, noting that 6,888 ballots already have been received.

Santa Clarita City Council candidate Moazzem Chowdhury was listed in a complaint against a Lancaster pharmacy, one of four he owns. A complaint filed in November against Santa Clarita Valley pharmacist and Santa Clarita City Council candidate Moazzem Chowdhury of Desert Drugs cites three causes for discipline from 2010 actions, as part of an active investigation. The alleged causes for discipline stem from accusations from an inspector who noted Desert Drugs did not properly shred patient information before disposal, dispensed prescriptions for Schedule II narcotics without physician verification and a lack of accurate records from a business-to-business narcotics purchase.
